|
| methodology |
|
| |
We use a four step methodology for designing
any training interventions:-
- Start with outcomes - clarify the nature of the
business problem, agree what part training can play in improving
matters and specify how we will know when we have been successful.
- Tailor the design of our courses to meet the clients
needs using an 'output' based approach focusing on the results
expected.
- Link the training back into the work place by using Action
Learning.
- Measure the results achieved using the Kirkpatrick
evaluation model.
The key benefit of k2i is that we are practitioners - not
academics. We therefore choose the most appropriate training
approach through a combination of many years' experience and,
most importantly, listening carefully and responding to the
needs and requirements of our clients.
Training approaches we currently use include: - |
| |
|
|
|
|
| psychometrics |
| |
K2i has access to a wide range
of Psychometrics tools and questionnaires:
We use these to:
- help you to make recruitment and selection decisions.
- helping individuals to develop themselves and their teams
in the light of knowledge about their personal strengths
and weaknesses.
- Underpinning development programmes.
- Supporting Coaching programmes.
- integrating psychometric approaches with competency models
suited to your business.
|
| role-play |
| |
| This is a activity which provides
delegates with the opportunity to practice the skills and techniques
which are being discussed in the training day or seminar. All
role-plays are problem orientated and contextualised to the
individual organisation. |
| |
| small
group work and group discussions |
| |
| K2i recognises the importance of
interactive sessions and not bombarding delegates with information.
We introduce small group work at regular stages throughout the
event, setting tasks and activities, before facilitating plenary
sessions to share thoughts with the whole group. |
| |
| hand-outs |
| |
| Handouts support all discussions
during the training session, to aid the learning process. This
serves to reinforce the learning and provide a useful reference
guide when the delegate is back in the work environment. |
| |
| case
studies |
| |
| In order to allow delegates to explore
a range of issues, together with making practical application
to theory, we often uses case studies to illustrate points.
|
| |
| learning
games |
| |
| K2i recognises that delegates sometimes
learn most effectively through fun activities and games - with
a purpose. We often use such games and activities, which have
a clear purpose and allow delegates to reflect and think. These
activities are always de-briefed at the end of the session,
with the tutor drawing out from the delegates the key learning
messages. |
| |
| outdoor
activities |
| |
| Where appropriate we use outdoor
activities to provide a metaphor for problems encountered by
the group back in the workplace. Activities are designed for
all abilities - they are challenging both mentally and physically
but are not meant to 'survival' exercises! |

Whatever the performance issue you wish to address,
k2i can help you think through the issue and decide on the most appropriate
approach.
Short development programmes are usually between one and three days
in duration (although they maybe longer if you required) and could
cover a range of people management issues, some of which are suggested
below. You may benefit from a short development programme, if you
have a specific issue that needs to be dealt with or a training need
highlighted across different groups of staff.

- Leadership
- Managing Difficult People
- Teamwork Skills
- Time Management
- Train the Trainer
|
| Short development programmes tend
to be skills based, with plenty of opportunities to practice
the skills in the facilitated sessions. We aim to make the sessions
as practical as possible. We are interested in solving real
problems - not lecturing to staff on management theory. What
k2i does is introduce a range of strategies and concepts and
concentrates on the ways that they can assist employees in their
everyday work. |
| |
| All of our programmes help to
transfer the learning in the workshop directly to the workplace.
This is the key to adding value to your training investment. |

executive development - an individualised coaching based programme |
| |
|
k2i's Executive Development Program (EDP) is an individualised,
confidential management and leadership development process which
strengthens an executive's ability to lead and manage in dynamic
environments.
This comprehensive programme includes extensive assessment
of a client's current management and leadership style, and the
creation of a personalised development program supported by
long-term coaching. |
| |
A Program Overview
The programme comprises of
- A model of successful leadership
- Objective feedback on your leadership performance
- An understanding of your natural style and its strengths
and weaknesses
- Acknowledgment of the need to change in developmental
areas
- An understanding of common pitfalls that can lead
to derailment
- Rotation through different developmental assignments
- Targeted training and education
- Coaching and mentoring support
As external consultants, k2i Consulting can deliver objective
feedback, which may be difficult to hear from individuals
inside the organization. The EDP process helps managers
understand the impact of their working for style on others,
what is working for them and what is holding them back,
and what it will take to make the next career step. We
provide the kind of mentoring and coaching that managers
and executives need, but often have not received.
The Executive Development Program includes 26-30 hours
of personalised, confidential one-on-one sessions with
your k2i consultant (alternatively some clients have chosen
to develop internally their executive coaches). |
|
| |
The success of our executive programmes are based on:
- A combination of objective data and long-term coaching
that enables clients to process and integrate data into
an actionable plan and achieve sustainable results
- Consultants with management and behavioural sciences backgrounds
who can provide insights into behaviour as well as practical
management advice
- Analytical tools that create insight, and enable focused
development plans and coaching based on objective data
- Customized one-on-one work so that each client is able
to focus completely on their individual development needs
- A systematic development approach that creates insight,
facilitates action planning, ensures goals can be accomplished
- Confidentiality so that clients feel safe to address issues
head on
- An objective progress report to measure success

| graduate
development |
| |
|
The Graduate Development programmes are ideal for those who
have obtained degree qualifications but who have limited management
experience. They are designed to create the link between graduate-level
education and the skills needed in a business environment, at
an early stage in the graduates' working life.
The programmes prepare graduates to be future leaders and managers
in your business.
We offer two main types of Graduate Development programmes.
The programmes are structured so that each can be used on it's
own, or as an integrated part of your in-house graduate programme.
The Graduate Foundation programme helps them begin to
think in management terms, while the Graduate Advance programme
provides the formal foundations of key management disciplines.
graduate foundation programme
The Graduate Foundation programme is designed to meet the needs
of recently recruited graduates who have limited experience
of dealing with management issues and whom you wish to prepare
for their first management role.
The Graduate Foundation programme helps graduates to understand
how to apply essential management ideas in real situations.
We use case studies and investigations of current management
issues to help graduates to accelerate their understanding of
the business, irrespective of their degree discipline.
The focus of the Graduate Foundation programme is on group projects
that require the graduates to gather information from different
parts of the business and consider inter-departmental issues
and relationships. We use a variety of non-traditional learning
tools and techniques to analyse and understand real-life organisational
problems. The programme draws extensively on the issues you
consider are most important to your company.
Benefits of Graduate Foundation programme:
- Tailoring of the programme to your needs
- Option of offering it as a stand-alone programme
- Development of cross-functional perspectives
- Promotion of group work through team skills
- Development of critical, reporting and presentation skills
- Broadening of graduates' exposure to real business issues
graduate advance programme
This programme is designed to meet the needs of graduate management
trainees who have 2-3 years' work experience and are about to
move into their first managerial role - this group will be fast-tracked
into leadership positions.
The programme will help graduates to:
- Understand the interaction between marketing, operations,
finance and human resources functions
- Interpret key business information
- Focus on delivery of results - personal effectiveness
- Understand and develop their leadership style
The programme combines Psychometrics, workshops, mentoring and
project based learning. It is vital that participants are also
supported by their line managers and able to apply their learning
in their workplace. For some organisations graduate development
will also include inter-departmental rotation to ensure exposure
to all aspects of the business.
The programme provides an introduction to:
- Financial Accounting
- Marketing analysis
- Operations Management
- Organisational behaviour
- Modelling and Analysis for Management
- Leadership
If required the programme can be structured to enable achievement
of a post-graduate Qualification in Management (NVQ level 3,or
4; Certificate in Management) |

We benchmark supervisors, junior, and middle managers against
best practice (National Management Standards); coach them to
understand their role; and allow them to practice and test the
ways in which they will manage their people and their organisation.
If desired the management development programmes can lead to
formal assessment - NVQ Level 3, 4,5 in Management, or a Certificate
/ Diploma in Management.
We use workplace assessment methodology which is rigorous but
user friendly. This method of assessment means that the focus
of the programme is on development of the manager rather than
on evidence collection. |

|
K2i can provide you with a managed assessment centre
to assist you in gathering valuable information to make selection
decisions.
We use a range of measured activities, including group exercises,
psychometric testing and individual activities. All stages are assessed
using a matrix facility. The consultant will provide an evidenced
summary of each candidate in the de-brief session.

centres for us. They've facilitated the right people for the
right jobs and developed the right skills.'' |

Alternatively, you may wish to use an assessment centre internally
for a whole range of purposes including: -
- Highlighting the potential of new or existing employees
- As an internal promotion exercise.
- As a developmental tool, highlighting the skills or development
gaps of key staff.
