| K2i provides development programmes for all teams - from
self-managing cells and matrix-structure project teams to departmental
and senior teams. Our approach helps teams focus on tasks and
relationships. |

No single agenda can meet the needs of every
group. Each team's requirements are different. We work closely
with the team leader to tailor team development sessions to
the work group and its specific challenges.
Many of our programmes include outdoor development as this often
adds powerful reinforcement to key messages in a timely manner.
Where appropriate we choose from a range of helpful psychometric
tools including Team Climate Survey, Team Management Profile,
Myers Briggs and OPQ.
We:
- Meet with the key sponsors to identify broad issues/challenges,
details of the team's composition, and overall organisational
goals
- (Optional) - Conduct confidential interviews with all
team members (and cross-section of other employees if appropriate)
- Identify key elements of the organisational culture
- Identify themes and problem areas
- Review the themes with the team leader
- Design a process to address the specific issues identified
- Schedule and conduct the team development session
- Conduct a follow-up session in six to eight weeks to review
progress and results

| when do
teams need help? |
|
| |
|
There is a need to change direction or refocus
quickly: Sometimes a team has been working effectively together,
but needs to change direction because the environment has changed.
We help existing teams to renew their strategic focus, set a
new direction and plan the strategy and action to achieve it.
When friction builds up: Existing teams may find themselves
experiencing problems because they are under pressure, tasks
and roles are not clear and/or personal style clashes have occurred.
As a result people are stepping on each other's toes or disengaging,
resulting in the build up of friction. We help teams to surface
the core sources of their frustration, and identify what is
working and what isn't so that they can address and resolve
issues constructively, getting back to high performance.
The team is new: In today's business world, time is short
and pressure to achieve is high. We help new teams accelerate
their development and increase their likelihood of success by
enabling them to define and agree on common goals; clarify roles,
expectations and working processes; and to accelerate relationship
building.
It's time to celebrate success: More often than not,
teams are working under a great deal of pressure to excel. It's
vital to recognize performance and celebrate success to keep
morale high and people feeling valued and motivated. We design
creative and fun off-sites to provide teams the opportunity
to play and learn together through experiential games and activities.
Key Teams going through a Development Program: This
process can be used in conjunction with Key Team Development
sessions to enhance members' understanding of each other, create
a collective leadership agenda and to improve their ability
to work together toward a common goal. |

|
| why
is team development important? |
| |
|
| Competent teams operating at their maximum potential
are critical to an organisation's profitability and success. However,
many problems and changes, both inside the team and in the team's
external environment, can arise that greatly impact the team's ability
to consistently perform at a high level and achieve desired outcomes.
All too often, these problems fester because teams don't take the
time to resolve them. Unless teams periodically step back from
their daily tasks and activities to refresh and review how they are
working together and where they are heading: |

|
- Motivation can dwindle
- Cohesiveness can erode
- Communication and relationships can break down
- Productivity can drop
- The team can lose sight of its common goals and challenges
Structured team development provides teams with the opportunity,
process, support and guidance to resolve issues, meet new challenges,
accomplish goals and celebrate success. |

| benefits
of k2i's team development process |
| |
|
| Formal, structured team building helps to energise and align
individual to work together toward common goals. Common approaches
to problem solving shift the focus from individual needs to
a commitment on mutually agreed upon objectives. Team members
understand their own role and how they can contribute to the
group. Areas of agreement and disagreement are surfaced, allowing
long standing conflicts to be resolved. External facilitators
add objectivity and a broader perspective to the process. |
